The School in Lithuania started when a Lithuanian organization working with the rehabilitation of freed prisoners (Lithuanian Prisoner’s Aid Association), and Kofoeds School in Copenhagen established contact with each other.

The organization had by the church been granted the free use for 25 years of a building of 1000 square metres – in exchange for repairing and making it usable.

The Danish government and a Dutch foundation raised the necessary money, and the school was inaugurated in the beginning of 2001 with programs especially aimed at former prisoners and crime threatened youth, but also homeless, alcoholics, and other groups of socially vulnerable people.
